the Project Emick Howard & Seibert, Inc. developed a strategic facilities plan with the management team at Northwest Community Credit Union (formerly Wood Products Credit Union) to define a strategy to improve staff success as well as member satisfaction, service, and sales. A comprehensive retail branching strategy was also developed to create a strong and distinctive brand image for the credit union. One major component of the plan was a long-term solution for the administrative offices of the credit union. A subsidiary of Emick Howard & Seibert, Inc., Conway Architecture Inc., developed an innovative approach to the adaptive re-use of this 49,125 square foot vacated furniture warehouse/store in Springfield, Oregon. Such a large space, over an acre in size, needed to fulfill many functions and serve as both a branch and headquarters. The designers used various floor designs, colors, and patterns to visually divide much of the space yet preserve an open-air quality and avoid closing off large sections with walls. Vaulted ceilings and skylights transform the once dark, track-lit ceilings to open expansive ceilings allowing natural light in the space. The designers also incorporated many of the same branding elements created for the credit union’s branches throughout Oregon. In addition, many design elements are inspired from natural features in the surrounding Oregon landscape, including a large tree mural, wood trellis, and merchandising elements utilizing concepts from nature such as a bird’s nest, etc. About Emick Howard & Seibert, Inc.
